CCRPC & CCMPO Merger ~ “Meeting the Challenge”
Challenges for Change (H.792) Legislation was passed during the 2010 legislative session directing CCRPC, CCMPO and the Greater Burlington Industrial Corporation (GBIC) to work collaboratively to explore organizational efficiencies that will benefit the three organizations and the region. To that end, CCRPC, CCMPO and GBIC have been cooperating in many ways, large and small, for years. As well, the legislation directs Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission (CCRPC) and the Chittenden County Metropolitan Planning Organization (CCMPO) to develop a merger plan and timeline. The Report on the Plan for Merger and Timeline: Chittenden County Metropolitan Planning Organization & Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission was submitted to the Legislature on January 12th. In an effort to more formally communicate our joint efforts and progress, we have developed “Meeting the Challenge”; a report designed to keep all interested parties up to date. We will also use this report as a way to track our efforts and progress in addressing the Challenges for Change legislation adopted in May 2010.
In particular, this document will address the CCRPC and CCMPO consolidation effort. We view the challenges presented as an opportunity to improve our region and, therefore, have labeled this report, “Meeting the Challenge.” The report is a “living” document that will be constantly revised as we progress.
To begin implementing the Plan for Merger as described in the Meeting the Challenge report, we have formed several work groups. See below a general description of the work groups, a merger calendar, and click on each work group to see their progress in completing their work.
