Chittenden County Multi-Jurisdictional All-Hazard Mitigation Plan
|
CCRPC has nearly completed a recent update to the Chittenden County Multi-Jurisdictional All-Hazards Mitigation Plan. This plan helps the region and its municipalities anticipate and prepare for hazards. The Chittenden County Multi-Jurisdictional All-Hazards Mitigation Plan consists of a county-wide plan and annexes for each municipality.
The Chittenden County Multi-Jurisdictional All-Hazards Mitigation Plan was first adopted in 2005. Working with municpalities and other entities, CCRPC completed comprehensive updates to the plan in 2008-2011. These updates comply with federal rules and guidance for hazard mitigation planning. CCRPC submitted draft plans for the region and most municipalities to Vermont Emergency Management (VEM) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for their review and approval. Once these agencies approved the plans, CCRPC asked each municipality to adopt the county-wide plan and the relevant municipal annex. CCRPC submitted the plans with adoption documentation to FEMA and VEM, and on August 8, 2011, the plans for 17 county municipalities went into effect. The two remaining municipal annexes will be submitted to VEM and FEMA once the adoption process is complete. * Charlotte’s is approved but not adopted For more information, contact: Julie Potter, Senior Planner |
