Pavement Management

Pavement Management Studies

A Pavement Management System (PMS) is a tool designed to assist agencies charged with maintaining roadways. This tool provides a method to collect, store, and analyze information on pavement conditions, and help determine maintenance
needs to make optimal use of road maintenance funds. Pavement management systems do not replace the expertise of local public works staff and road foremen, but they can be a valuable tool to assist them to plan for future maintenance needs.

CCRPC currently uses MicroPAVER Pavement Maintenance Management System software to manage Maintenance & Rehabilitation (M&R) inventories. This allows for a graphical visualization the sample data collected to determine the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) of a municipality’s road sections.

CCRPC has been collecting imagery of various (common & uncommon) pavement distress types, which have been are recorded during the data collection and sampling process.

PCI Databases

Municipal Pavement Condition databases (containing field-collected sample data) may be downloaded from CCRPC’s Transportation Data Library. Here, each municipal ‘Network’ database has an embedded GIS shapefile containing the PCI or Condition value for each roadway.
