Plan accepted!
At their July 22nd meeting, the Essex Junction City Council unanimously voted to accept the Pearl St Pedestrian Crossings Scoping Study and endorsed Alternative 2 as the preferred alternative for implementation, with the other alternatives to be considered at a future date. This study is now complete, and the final report is available here.
CCRPC is working with the City of Essex Junction and consultant Hoyle Tanner to evaluate one to two locations for crosswalks along Pearl Street through the City. The potential crosswalk(s) would be located on Pearl Street (State Route 15) between Warner Avenue and Weston Way. This section of Pearl Street does not currently have a crosswalk and is designated as a Class 1 Town Highway.

- Presentation at City Council Meeting: Wednesday, July 22, 6:30 p.m. | The project team presented the final draft report to the city council for their consideration at the July 22nd meeting. The meeting was held in person at 2 Lincoln St, Essex Junction, in the main conference room, with a remote attendance option available via Zoom. Members of the public were encouraged to review the final draft report and attend the city council meeting to provide input.
- Draft Alternatives Meeting: Thursday, March 12, 7pm | The project team will present draft alternatives for the crosswalk(s) on Thursday, March 12, at 7:00 p.m. during the Bike/Walk Advisory Committee’s regularly scheduled meeting. The meeting will be held in person at 2 Lincoln St, Essex Junction, in the main conference room, with a remote attendance option available via Zoom: here (please note that the Zoom link will be posted approximately one week prior to the meeting). The meeting presentation is available for review in advance of the meeting here. Please join us to share your thoughts on the design and location of these potential crosswalks!
- Project Survey Update | In addition to feedback collected as part of the Connect the Junction project, we gathered additional input specific to this potential crossing. Thank you for your input on the project survey! The project team is currently reviewing survey results and traffic data together to begin developing possible crosswalk concepts. Check back soon for additional public input opportunities.
